PMC Officer Positions/Application Instructions

Hello PMC members! The end of the year is upon us and it is time to change the officers for the new year! Being an officer for PMC is a busy, yet rewarding chance and is a great amount of fun.

The perks of the officers:
-Help plan events for PMC, from the fun to the educational, member games and speaker nights!
-Work alongside fellow officers, making new friends and learning how to plan and organize accordingly
-Meet and interact with industry professionals
-Looks great on resumes, many people in the industry have heard of us!
-Learn some great skills that will pass on with you through life

But now, you should know just what these positions are. So here is an incredibly, professionally detailed explanation of each position and their requirements. Please note that President/Vice President are listed for future aspirations, though they are unavailable unless you've been an officer at least one year.

  • President – Take charge of the club in a leadership position and take the credit for everyone’s hard work! The president has the ultimate responsibility that all club events are properly planned, staffed, and run smooth as butter. Position requires one year of officer-ness to be considered.
  • Vice President – The right hand man to the president, if the president is left handed. The left hand man to the president, if the president is right handed. I think you get the picture. The vice president shares the president’s responsibility, and steps in if the president is unable to fulfill duties (the second semester curse).

  • Secretary – The voice of the club! The secretary sends out PMC emails to inform members of upcoming events and takes notes during the meetings because presidents have lousy memories. In charge of the PMC email. Secretary is the one who interacts with members on a regular basis, answering emails and keeping up to date with events to answer in meetings. In the rare chance of President and Vice president being gone, Secretary steps up.
  • Treasurer – The money handler that keeps the books! The math is so easy, even animators can do it. Keeps the keys to the money box, and keeps records of the account. Works closely with the secretary, especially during Discoverfest week when most of the memberships are paid. Keep up to date with all events, so you know how much is needed in funds.
  • Advertiser – The propaganda machine! Advertiser makes all the posters and puts them up to inform the student body of upcoming events. Professional events (speakers, etc), make them neat, and fun member events (the bomb, pmc gallery, drawing challenge).
  • Social Media Coordinator (Webmaster) – The Facebooker! The Blogspotter! The Tumblr...er! The Webmaster is responsible for posting events/news on the PMC's social media pages! This includes Facebook, Blogspot, Instagram, Tumblr, and Twitter. Will work closely with the Advertiser to post flyers and such.
  • Event Coordinator – These people figure out all of the logistics for events. They reserve the rooms, chaperone the guests, and make dreams a reality. Really, the lifeblood of the club, as most of our events are speakers from the industry, as contacted by coordinators.
  • Event Coordinator SPECIALIST – Sort of like the alpha event coordinator. We will look to you for events when there needs to be one! You will take charge and organize your fellow coordinators to make sure everything runs smoothly.
  • Historian – Historians document all the events by taking pictures and videos for the PMC library for future generations of PMC-ites. Post them in a timely manner to the facebook page to amp up excitement for other members, and even non-members who see the page.
  • Arts Inter Club Council Representative – Ambassador for the pencil mileage that helps gets funding from ASI for guest speakers and events. Top hat, pompous monocle, and snooty cigar required.

So if you'd like to be a part of making this club what it is, please send us an email! We need a few things from you:
1. Name
2. Major
3. Expected Grad date
4. Recent photo of your face (professional)
5. Position preferred
6. Relevant experience/Why you think you'd be great at it
7. Phone Number
8. Email Address & Facebook URL. If you do not have a FB, guess what you need to do. The PMC Officer FB page is /essential/.
