I've had experience as an Artist Alley Coordinator at Titan Con and have been a member of PMC for almost 2 years. I go to almost every meeting and attend several of the events. My favorite PMC events are the guest speaker presentations. I would love to be a part of the process of finding guest speakers, and especially would like to find more people in the television animation industry as well as the comic book industry.

Jake Lemke

I've already been in the club as a Historian so I have experience in how the club is run and managed and I absolutely love this club and would love to continue to contribute and help anyway I can. I have experience as a Digital Artist and I'm not afraid to talk to people and reach out. And I'll bring a lot of Food to our events !!

Maribel Macias
I'm currently the treasurer for PMC and I was an event coordinator the year before that. I love being involved and helping out whenever I can. I've been a member since my freshmen year, I learned a lot about how the club runs and would like to continue being a part of this wonderful group of people. I live close by so I can always help out with events or any issue that may come. The Pencil Mileage has helped me grow as an artist and I want help and give back as much as I can! I love sharing my experiences and being part of such an amazing group of people!

Erin Younger
I have been an officer for the past two years as secretary and I’m excited to have the opportunity to continue to be an officer next year.  PMC means a lot to me and I hope to use my experience to help the club continue to accomplish amazing things next year. I hope to become more involved with our events next year, and to continue to help organize our speaker events which make the club what it is. My experience as secretary has allowed me to understand how the club runs as a whole, and I believe this experience will be valuable next year!

Alison Houser
My background is mostly in customer service so I know how to talk and accommodate with people in a friendly personable manner. I’m a new transfer student who is dedicated to making connections and learning as much as I can during my (hopefully) short time at CSUF and am confident I can help others do the same. PMC will be a priority for my college career and I’m sure I will be an asset as an officer! I’m willing to work where needed. :)

Jenny Duong

I was an event coordinator when I reached the rank of Venturer during my time in Girl Scouts. I helped organized many volunteering and fun events for the younger girlscouts and boyscouts. It taught me how complicated organizing an event can be and must adaptable to any changes. I also help create events for a small sketch group where we organize costume drawing, cafe sketching, and museum trips. Usually, the numbers are small but organizing events and meeting new people makes the effort worth it.
I think I would be a great addition to PMC because I want to be part of this wonderful and humble community of artists. I have made some of my greatest friends in the club and made my school experience more positive and fun. I love talking and meeting new people who are passionate about art. I hope to give someone the same great experience as I did before.

Vanessa Vargas-Galeano
Hi, everyone! I’d love to become an active staff member of the Pencil Millage Club and I feel as though the position of Event Coordinator could really display what I have to offer. I was an active member and Event Coordinator for the American Cancer Society. There, I had the opportunity to plan and coordinate many events such as fundraisers and our annual Relay for Life. That being said, I am very comfortable with the logistics behind event planning such as contacting speakers and reserving rooms. In addition, I feel as though I have the interpersonal skills to contact professionals for PMC’s speaker events. I am very comfortable with networking and like to make an active effort on my own time to reach out to professionals in the industry at events such as CTNX or PMC speaker events. All in all, I’d honestly love to become a bigger part of PMC. This club is what actually made me decide to transfer to Fullerton! So, it would truly be an honor to become an officer.

Kevin Liang

I have strong background in graphic design, social media management, and hosting speaker events. I was an organizer for my city's TEDxYouth event for two years, being part of a team of six responsible for the core planning of the upcoming event (venue, speaker, audience, finances, publicity). My primary role involved designing the graphics for the website, banner, logos, posters, and more. In high school, I designed and developed a variety of graphics for websites and promotional posters for clubs as well. I am passionate about my work and enjoy collaborating with others on larger projects, attending many design/coding events to develop applications and solve problems. Ultimately, I hope to contribute to the opportunities available within Cal State Fullerton and establish closer ties to the animation industry.

Safiyyah Muhammad

Hello PMC! My name is Safiyyah and I’ve been in the Pencil Mileage Club a while and love it. It’s fun, it’s exciting, and I’ve met a lot of talented people. I think I would be a great event coordinator because I’m organized and self-motivated. I’m always amazed at the things we can do here. I’m passionate about art and the industry, and am really looking forward to sharing this experience and building new relationships.

Jacqueline “Jackie” Nkansah

Event Coordinator

I have been an active member of the Pencil Mileage Club for two years now and I am very excited to run for a position this year. I am interested in the position of an Event Coordinator and I have a fair amount of experience that would benefit me in the position. I was a Co-leader of the art department of my High School’s newspaper, Knightlife. I created a large majority of the monthly comics and mentored the underclassmen chosen to join the art department. While editing the comics created, I would help design the layout for the illustration page of the paper. Along with this, I am currently aiding in teaching a third grade class the fundamentals of illustration and three-dimensional art as well as the importance of artistic expression. Having planned creative projects for the young children, I think this will truly help me as an Event Coordinator in planning enjoyable parties and events for the club and its members. Finally, I was in Latin for four years up until AP level, and I frequented assisting planning and participation in school conventions because of this. Each year, I would create posters, banners, T-shirts and hilariously, togas to represent my school’s enthusiasm for ancient Roman culture. Participation in newspaper, teaching, and my Latin has helped me with organization and preparation for events. This club has done so much good for me, helping me find a supportive and loving community in college. I truly hope I get the opportunity to be an Event Coordinator for PMC, and share my love for the club with all its members.

Rowan Smith

Hello! My name is Rowan Smith and I’m running for the position of event coordinator. I've been an active member of the Pencil Mileage Club since I started here at CSUF 2 years ago, and I would really love the opportunity to give back to the club that helped me find my place here. I rarely miss a meeting or speaker event, and I have a lot of ideas to help make PMC the absolute best it can be! I’m an animation major, and I've been a staff member at Comic Con in the autograph area and portfolio department since I was 16, so I think I would be able to bring some interesting connections to the club. In addition to this, I also think art education is important, and I work at an elementary school with a third grade class, teaching the basics of design and exposing younger generations to different kinds of art. I would love to do some outreach between PMC and the class and give the kids some ideas of different art careers they could pursue. Lastly, I would also like the opportunity to make some connections between the Fullerton college art clubs and our own, because I think it would be awesome to create a partnership between the 2 campuses- we both have awesome programs and teachers and I think we could learn a lot from cooperation. I have a strong work ethic and a lot of passion for this club, so if you were to vote for me I would really appreciate it!

For the past year I have been the AICC representative for Pencil Mileage Club. I have helped acquire funding for every guest speaker that we have needed and have assisted in every way I could. I am really excited for the future of PMC and I believe I have a lot to offer. I am enthusiastic about being an event coordinator because I want next year to be packed with exciting guest speakers and fun social events. I am also enthusiastic about being the new Vice President. In order to properly perform my duties as the AICC rep, I have been constantly be aware of everything that has been going on in the club. I have learned when things need to happen, how things should run, and how to perform the different positions. This club is extremely important and serves a vital function in this university.  I would like to be a part of its legacy.

Alexis Jauregui

Hi Everyone! My Name's Alexis Jauregui and besides being a full-time student at CSUF and a member of PMC, I work, am in charge of organizing emails, google docs, and appointments as well as hosting events and parties on my weekends. In leading, organizing, and hosting events at work for about 3 years, I have mastered skills on how to make events run more smoothly as well as coming up with quick but easy ideas to make events more fun. In working along with my coworkers, we have made a lot of guests happy and have quickly solved issues that needed to be solved in a pinch. Aside from hosting events, I also have experience in social media, as I am in charge of updating my workplace's facebook, pinterest and tumblr page and always keep up with updates to said apps and webpages.

Being in a team means a whole lot to me, as meeting new people and sharing their experiences is one of the things that I care deeply about. There is nothing that makes me happier than meeting and speaking with new people! In being in PMC, we have met a bunch of artists who have opened our eyes to new possibilities and new ways of looking at the jobs we hope for in our future, and how we frame these stories all of us wish to tell in our work. I hope I can do the same thing by being part of such as wonderful team as the Pencil Mileage club is and learning and getting to know each and every one of you

Cassidy Foelsch

I have been a proud member of the Pencil Mileage Club for the past 3 years and it has been an honor serving as an Event Coordinator for the past year! It would mean the world to me to be able to continue to serve on board as an officer next year so I can continue to give back to the club that means so much to me! This year I have my sights set on the Event Coordinator Specialist position, because I believe that I have the leadership qualities, experience, and commitment to make next year our best yet! My past experiences on the boards of the ASI Spring Concert Team, the ASI Film Festival Committee, and the Orange County Film Festival have taught me what it takes to plan a successful event and lead a team to make something bigger than ourselves. This past year as an Event Coordinator for PMC among other basic officer tasks I brought out industry speakers from both Disney and Dreamworks, not to mention the fact that I brought all of the pizza for every social event, as well as created our photo booth backdrops for the Halloween and Holiday parties. I have a passion for mentoring others, so I would love to be able to help pass on what I have learned to the new Event Coordinators as the Specialist!

This year I have also enjoyed taking some videos throughout the year that I will be compiling for the Film Festival, so I would be more than willing to continue to do this in any role on board next year.

HISTORIANS

Ian Chiu

I love taking photos—especially of candid moments. I have previous experience outside of school photographing events, and I have learned a good deal from photographing PMC events. Documenting all the good times our club has experienced over the past school year has been a blast, and it would be awesome to be able to serve as historian again!

- I am a volunteer for Titan TV as Camera Operator, BTS Stills on OC News, Titan Weekly, and Titan Radio Live!
- I was in the BTS Stills team for CNN Rock Club - my club in high school. I take pictures of band practices, on stage performances, or regular club meetings. Sometimes, I do the recording for their performances as well. I was also one of the page's admins, so I take care of posting the edited stock onto the club's page.
- I was one of the media coordinators for my high school class' yearbook.
- To me, photography is a delight! It is another form of creating art that I am fond ofI would be glad to observe our club through camera lens and see how each member adds his or her character to the whole picture.
Overall, I have had a good amount of experience before, and I absolutely enjoy it! I believe being a Historian for PMC, I can learn much more about our club and acquire more skills, responsibilities, and friendships!

Austin Johnson
I would love to be involved in either of these three positions. As a member, I’ve greatly enjoyed being a part of this club, and I would love to join the core of the organization to take on a task. Holding a position in an school-based organization is familiar to me, as I was deeply involved in the running of my high school’s newspaper, as an editor, writer, and the lead cartoonist, as well as my high school’s news broadcasts.

And as for the role of historian, I have my own camera ready, and film and photography have been interests and hobbies of mine for years. I regularly attend PMC events and meetings, so I can be counted on to be there to get pictures, as well as upload them to Facebook without delay.

During my time, in high school, my leadership experience has been involved in as associate student body school relations representative, publicity officer, and president of a visual arts club. With my experience, I know I would be proud to serve my time to PMC. During my 3 years at my city college (Pasadena City College), I remember researching about CSUF animation program and found out what PMC was about. I followed PMC throughout my first years in college, before I attended CSUF. I even went to a few art events such as the Sanjay and Craig art gallery opening and Nickelodeon 25 Year Anniversary opening art gallery. I met previous members before, and truly believe this club is full of opportunity. Becoming an office for PMC would be an honor. That's why I think I would be great as an officer.

I have been in leadership positions for two clubs in high school. One was called "In the Loop" and the other "Interact" and their main focus was to improve student life at the school and I was in charge of promoting the club's activities by setting up tables in the quad or posting flyers.

Katie Combs
Howdy PMC! It's Katie Combs making herself known for reelection as a PMC officer.

This leadership position has been a catalyst for many personal goals of mine. Through the opportunity of being a representative of this club, I have found myself humbled by the work our team of officers has accomplished, and the lives we have changed in the process.

Supporting the members of PMC and guiding them to a club that has opened countless doors for our members is my greatest goal for this club, and I hope to be given the chance to do it again even BETTER.

I strive to improve the club for the experience and the good of our members.

I'm reapplying for social media coordinator, as well as treasurer and secretary.

I have experience with the role of social media coordinator, and I would love to work alongside our second social media coordinator. However, I want to explore the roles of treasurer and secretary wherever my merits can apply.

Through these duties I hope to assist the members by informing them as clearly as possible about our agenda, and leading them to a space for them to meet a community of passionate people.

I would love to be involved in either of these three positions. As a member, I’ve greatly enjoyed being a part of this club, and I would love to join the core of the organization to take on a task. For the role of webmaster, I would say I keep a very active social media presence, as I have an account for many different sites, such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr, so I am familiar with how each site runs. Other than personal social media accounts, I have run my own website for a webcomic I made in the past and a production blog for a series I am developing. I believe I could send out posts for the club in a very timely manner and get back to any questions a member may have immediately.

Sean McPartland

Hello everyone! I'm Sean McPartland and I'm running for the position of advertiser! PMC is a wonderful club with amazing members and has changed my life. I would love the chance to take part in helping the club grow as an officer. I believe I would be a good fit for Advertiser. While I am an animation major, I love illustration as well and I would put my all into creating fun posters for PMC's events.
PMC has played a huge part in motivating me to do more art. I have been an active participant in the monthly drawing challenges, gone to the speed draw socials, and have participated in the 24 Hour Animation challenges for the last two years. Creating posters for the club would be a great way to further practice art, illustration, and graphic design. I have experience working with strict deadlines for art and am confident in my ability to deliver quality art on time.
I hope to be able to participate in PMC's wonderful community as an officer and do all I can to help the club and advertise its events to help it grow.

I understand being an advertiser means creating artwork on a tight deadline, something I know all too well from my time spent as the lead cartoonist on the newspaper, as well as my personal work in making a webcomic that ran for over 200 installments. I can compare the two positions of advertiser and cartoonist, as each involve being on hand to contribute unique artwork to be seen by a large audience. I have also had experience with designing advertisements and graphics for that same newspaper, as well as contributing the primary character designs for my 24-hour animation group in 2015.

AICC REPRESENTATIVE

Kat Turner

As a current officer for PMC, I have been able to get first hand experience working with the club, being a part of this process has been incredibly rewarding. I get to work with other officers and have come to fully understand the amount of hard work, dedication, and passion that goes into keeping PMC alive and well! Though hard work at times, it means the world to hear our members feeling welcomed and happy coming to PMC events. I love being a part of making that happen and helping our ideas and events come to life! Being treasurer would allow me to continue to help PMC bring to life and improve all the events for our members. Being AICC Representative would also allow me to work to bring funding and help events happen. I am filled with passion for our club and want to see it continue to grow and make it a positive experience for everyone!

EVENT COORDINATOR SPECIALIST

Princess Bizares
My experiences as an event coordinator this past year have really transformed me to be more organized and responsible. By contacting different speakers, models, and booking rooms amongst other important tasks, I’ve gained a wealth of confidence and inspiration interacting with many of the members, especially those who have regularly attended the life drawing sessions I have organized, and I’m so thankful. I’m so happy whenever we hear that members have fun at the events we’ve worked really hard this past year to put together.

As president, vice president, or event coordinator specialist, I hope to be able to continue a legacy of passion and enthusiasm for the arts and to be able to continue to foster a strong sense of camaraderie within the members of this club. I aspire to uphold the safe space PMC has surely cultivated for fellow artists to connect and deepen their relationships with one another. I would be honored to lead this club with any of the three titles.

The Pencil Mileage Club means so much to me. It’s cultivated me into the person I am today. I’ve always been pretty introverted and shy, but I set out to change this once I transferred to Cal State Fullerton. I wanted to put myself out there so I pretended to be brave. I attended the PMC Speed Drawing Social event and though I was nervous talking to so many people in such a short amount of time, it is an experience I will always treasure because that’s when I started making genuine connections with people. Because of this, I made a point of going to as many social events as I could and to every single life drawing session my first year in the club. I was a little anxious, but I tried anyway, and I’m so glad I did because it is through PMC that I have been able to forge the best friendships with some of the kindest, inspiring, and most genuine people I’ve ever met. As president, vice president, or event coordinator specialist, I aspire to give back to the club that has continuously uplifted me and to encourage people to step out of their comfort zones, to be passionate and brave, and to try to connect with others too.

Thank you for your consideration.

I have been in leadership positions for two clubs in high school. One was called "In the Loop" and the other "Interact" and their main focus was to improve student life at the school and I was in charge of promoting the club's activities by setting up tables in the quad or posting flyers.

I'm currently the treasurer for PMC and I was an event
coordinator the year before that.
